Hetalia OK'ed for 26 More Episodes

The Anime News Network reported recently on the upcoming second season of the anime comedy Hetalia.
Sporting a handful of nationally stereotyped bishounen, Hitaelia is a joyful romp through harrowing events of recent history (imagine World War I as a Japanese comedy).
Like before, Hitaelia will be available online after this summer. For more information, follow through to the official site.

Earlier this year, YaoiPress produced an art nouveau poker deck featuring (of course) bishounen. Each suite has a different theme (hearts, above, being the wild west), and they’re all (more or less) “tasteful.”
In an experiment to determine whether or not the cards could make a profit, YaoiPress auctioned a deck on eBay that sold for $102!
There’s no news whether or not the cards will be put up for regular sale, but Yaoi Press remains hopeful, “It’s possible someone else will sell them online. We’re giving the artists and some of the licensors some decks. We’re keeping other options open too.”

How To Find Bara In English

Alex at Yaoi911 will help you grab some choice bara manga that has been scanlated into English. What’s “bara” you ask? Unlike run-of-the-mill BL, bara is written by men for men, and it really shows! Sometimes referred to as “muscle yaoi” bara is the masculine alternative to the hordes of bishounen found on U.S. bookshelves (and quite frankly, it’s a breath of fresh air).
Follow the link and let Yaoi911 help you: they’ve got links to free sites, places to buy e-books, and ways to get a hold of some physical copies.

Juné Releases for May 2009

Two years later (seems to be the norm) the English version of Mezame no Mori will be released in the U.S. as “Awaken Forest.” Yet again, yaoi publisher Juné will carry this one to the States, and if you’re a fan of BL drama in the workplace pick up Awaken Forest on store shelves in May.

Boys' Love Games Headquarters
Ultimately, keeping up with “boys’ love” manga releases in the U.S. and abroad requires heavy sleuthing through fanzines and internet forums. Occasionally, during our tromps through the metaverse, we discover interesting lists of “boys’ love” PC games… at least we did today. Follow the link to the BLGH forum.

In two months (June 2009), “boys’ love” publisher Blu will release book two of Gakuen Heaven, a charming manga by the author of Gorgeous Carat. As my favorite manga publisher in the States, I’m glad Blu decided to grab this one.
As for Gakuen Heaven, I’ve watched the anime version, and the multitude of interesting (stereotypically archetypal) characters makes this series a hole in one! Pick up book no. 1 today to be ready for the next release!
